Rookie baseball player of Tohoku Rakuten Eagles, Louis Okoye show his talent now.

Okoye was nominated to 1st place from Eagles in last year’s draft, and was in the first team at the spring training 2016. In Exhibition game, His stats was 23 at-bats and 4 hits. But he took 4 RBI and showed a good defense at outfield, he was in the first team again at the opening game.

But Okoye was no-hit in 7 at-bats, so he went to the minor leagues on April 14. Then, he took an 8-game hitting streak and regained the condition. On May 29, He was promoted to the first team, and took the first hit of first team in 13 at-bat. After that he began to compete in the starting lineup.

And the day came that unforgettable for Okoye. There was a game of Eagles vs Yokohama Baystars at Yokohama Stadium, June 18. Okoye entered the batting order as 1st hitter. His first at-bat was fly out, and His 2nd at-bats came at 3rd inning. He took the first home run to left-center stand from Shota Imanaga. His home run in 72th at-bat was the big home run that the estimated distance was 125 meters.

The fan who took the ball at stand, gave Okoye the ball. He was delighted very match, and sent the ball to his parent. It was a good gift for Father’s Day.
